First things first, happy world peace day! I hope wherever you are, for today at least, you have a happy and healthy day.
That aside, there’s nothing more that I want in the world than for it to finally be a peaceful place. However, I have to come to terms with the fact that in my lifetime, this probably won’t happen. But, I, and everyone else in the world, can make sure that his or her life is a peaceful and beneficial one. But, how do you define peace?
For me, it’s simple. It’s my computer background. It’s on one of my favorite mugs. It’s this:
“Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.”
I will never know who spoke those profound words because they wish to remain anonymous. Regardless, they had something with that one.
Think about it.
If everyone in the world accepted that definition of peace and strove for its fruition, well, that would be accomplishing world peace. Wouldn’t it? So I ask you, dear readers, to make peace in your own life. Forgive yourself and those who have wronged you. Let go of what has happened and what you wish had happened. Dwell on happy memories and acknowledge the bad ones. Pack it up, say goodbye, and move on.
It doesn’t have to happen today or even tomorrow. It can be a month from now or a year from now. But it has to happen eventually. Because the first step towards getting anywhere globally, is starting with content, peaceful individuals.
So are you ready? I’m with you, let’s go.
